Ashley Hayes is Zipongo’s Senior Manager of Engagement and Strategy, dedicated exclusively to a large tech company based in Mountain View. She’s been in the tech and startup space most of her career since graduating from UC Berkeley in 2005, crafting global social media, marketing, branding and public relations strategy and content for several brands, including major platforms at Google. Her passion for food and wine has integrated into her professional career with experience at Yelp, Google Local, Zagat, LivingSocial and Tasteful, as well as the creation of her company, Tech & Vine Events and Marketing, in 2013. With her background in community building and strategy, startups and the health food space, she could not be more excited for her role at Zipongo!
1. Tell us why you joined Zipongo. I joined Zipongo because I have a deep passion for both the food and health industry, and love to see the integration of both into one convenient app to help people live healthier, more fulfilling lives. I have been in the community space for many years, and greatly enjoy the fusion of building online and offline community around a compelling product, especially in the food space.
2. What are you most proud of, personal or career-wise? Last year, I created my own company, Tech & Vine Marketing and Events, and really enjoyed the challenge of catering to both the tech and food/wine industries. It offered me great growth in my career and knowledge of the field, allowing me to come back into the startup space with fresh eyes on tackling projects and client needs.
3. What’s your favorite restaurant in the city? Wow, tough question! How about top three? For sashimi and sushi, I love Umami in Cow Hollow; for Mexican tapas, I crave the brisket at lolo’s, not to mention their delicious margaritas; and for a celebratory evening (or a casual Monday), nothing compares to Danko. Nothing.
4. Can you share something that ranks high on your bucket list? TRAVEL! I have a deep love for learning new cultures and traditions in other countries, especially going off the beaten path and exploring on my own. I just got back from five weeks in Europe, touring Ireland, the UK, France and Italy, and can’t wait to get another stamp on my passport again!
